Helderberg Water Drilling Company
"The first step in successful borehole construction is knowing what you want. How much water do you need and what will you use it for? Irrigation? Domestic supply? Stock watering? This will affect the water quality required. If you need water for toilet flushing and sanitation, for example, a low-yielding borehole with saline water will be sufficient but it will be of no use if you require high quality water for crop irrigation"
"It is the customers responsibility to consult with a Ground Water Specialist to decide if and where a borehole should be drilled."
Difference between Wellpoints, Mini boreholes & Boreholes.
Wellpoints are shallow boreholes that are effective only where water is not too deep below the ground surface. (The water must not be deeper than 11 meter.)
Well points are much faster and easier to install and for this reason also the cheapest option to access ground water.
Generally speaking wellpoint water volumes are smaller than that of bore holes and the water quality could be lower but this can be rectified by combining multiple wellpoint and water purification equipment. A wellpoint work with a electrical water pump on the ground surface that suck water out of the ground .Well points can normally be installed in: Tableview, Milnerton, Cape Flats, Lakeside, Tokai, Fish Hoek, Noordhoek, Plumstead and Southfield, etc.
Mini Bore Holes
In some area the water table is shallow (no more than 9 meters) but the ground formation is harder than the sand condition required to make a conventional Wellpoint. In these conditions a smaller drilling machime is use to drill a hole which is fitted with a 125mm PVC pipe. These borehole can be fitted with a surface wellpoint pump or a conventional submersible bore hole pump.To access ground water mini borehole is normally required in Constantia Hills, Lower parts of Constantia. Tokai, Bergvliet, Noordhoek, Milnerton, Tableview and Kenilworth.
Bore Holes are required if the ground water level is deeper than 11meters or the ground is too hard and rocky for wellpoint construction.
The depth and cost of a borehole differs greatly in different locations. Bore holes work with a submersible electrical water pump that is lowered to the bottom of the bore hole This pump pushes the water out from the bottom of the hole. This permit bore holes to be many time deeper than wellpoint allowing boreholes to be much more versatile.Ground water access in these area require boreholes Simonstown, Noordhoek, Constantia, Bishopscourt, Tokai, Claremont, Newlands, Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Rondebosch ect.

How do you know where to drill for water.
Choosing a suitable place for a borehole is a high specialize undertaking which require specialised knowledge and years’ experience. Even the best hydro-geologists and water diviners out there will be first to admit that it is not an exact science. It takes a combination of knowledge, luck, experience, instinct and hard work to finding the most suitable spot and choice of borehole type.
This is a decision I leave to the experts. Before you commission me to install a water well I recommend that you approach a reputable company to recommend a suitable drilling spot.
Their knowledge of ground formations and water availability is crucial information required for the installation of a successful borehole.

What will it cost
In the most idea conditions where the ground is soft enough to drill a hole with the water-jet method and the ground water is not deeper than 7 meter the most basic borehole and pump setup (wellpoint) will cost about R7800.
A standard borehole with a submersible pump normally cost from about R25000 to R100 000.
The different ground conditions and many other variables involved in installing a borehole make it impossible to estimate the cost before the site has been inspected.
